The new nature center provides an insight into a vibrant floodplain and demonstrates that coexistence between man and nature is possible.

The new nature center near the Thurauen operated by PanEco will be the starting point for all activities and environmental education in the wetland.  Here visitors will learn all there is to know about nature along the river and the revitalisation of the Thur. Visitors can also be informed about current events, conservation work and regional tourist attractions. Above all, the nature center offers an unforgettable experience of nature for both young and old. 

A key part of the center is a modern designed and interactive exhibition. Visitors will be captivated by amazing and unexpected phenomena that cannot be observed in nature. A model enables visitors to embark on a learning expedition down the course of the river. They learn more about floodplain habitat, how the river shapes the landscape, why floods occur, how floodplains provide natural protection against high water and much more. Temporary exhibits will address current and regional issues and give returning visitors the opportunity to always discover something new. A guided tour is the perfect solution for visitors looking for a special experience, or for those with a thousand questions who like to get more information or hear firsthand anecdotes. The nature center offers something for everyone, whether in the exhibition or in the Thurauen themselves. The guided tours for adults offer special topics; watching beavers in the wild, using medicinal herbs found in the wetland, or listening to a chorus of frogs are all on the programme. Family excursions take a more playful approach to the discovery of nature. The programme for schools complements each stage of the curriculum and includes learning materials for before and after the visit.  An attractive programme is also available for companies and organisations.
