The nature center infrastructure includes an adventure trail, observation hut and a watchtower that together create a conducive space for individual discovery.
The center also has a trail set out on the topic of alluvial forests. Visitors travel along a winding boardwalk through a piece of an old alluvial forest and along the way see up close the animal inhabitants and rare white willows. Curiosity is encouraged and visitors can investigate, touch and observe everything themselves! Through the targeted management of the woodland we are also able to create a habitat for nightingales, tree frogs and damselflies.
The infrastructure of the center will be complemented by other facilities in the Thurauen area. On the south bank of the river Thur, near the mouth of the Rhine, stairs lead invitingly up to a lookout tower. This offers a breathtaking panoramic view over the whole estuary. An ideal place to follow the changes taking place to the Thur! At the edge of Schöni, an area in the north of the Thurauen, two observation huts provide a chance to hide from watchful wildlife and observe rare birds, perhaps even beavers. Schöni will over the years be developed into a bird paradise. The reed meadows will provide a welcome resting place for migrating birds and perhaps even attract a lapwing or two.
