Linking cultures
Motivation, respect for foreign cultures, idealism and the ability to adapt to new situations are the most important skills for volunteers in Indonesia. We welcome the enthusiastic young as well as people with a long experience in life and work.
During their service, volunteers will get to know a foreign culture and establish links to their own way of life. Thus a mutual respect and understanding of complex social and ecological contexts will arise.
Volunteers can work in different fields of our projects. We take great care in placing volunteers where they can develop their skills and use their knowledge as best as possible and according to their wish. Every volunteer is accompanied throughout his service by a local partner, his counterpart. Thus we allow both sides to get an insight in each others culture on a personal level. All participants shall benefit from the mutual exchange of knowledge and experience as well as the learning of professional skills.
Conditions
The minimum age for volunteers with PanEco is 21 years. We consider only written requests sent in with complete application files, including your CV. Please use our application form only. To prepare yourself properly for the mission, you will need three months before departure at least. A basic knowledge of the local Indonesian language (Bahasa Indonesia) is highly recommended. To learn its basics is an important part of your preparation.
Your service as PanEco volunteer will last between two and four months. Exceptions can be arranged upon prior agreement. There is generally a trial period of two weeks. During the trial period, the agreement can be cancelled by either party. All participants of our volunteer programme agree to write monthly short working reports and – after their coming back – a detailed final report.
Students and apprentices can further arrange their service as a scientific project or as an internship.
Costs
The costs for volunteering with PanEco are 600 CHF for not money-earning and 1200 CHF for money-earning people respectively. This fee does not include the flight, food and lodging, insurances or any medical services.
