The Weinland Experience

Milking sheep, watching beavers and exploring the forest: the UBZ NeulandWeinland offers a unique natural experience for both young and old.

The environmental education centre NeulandWeinland, in short "UBZ", is situated in the midst of the unique cultural landscape of the Zurich Weinland. The period timber houses and vineyards are also surrounded by rich natural landscapes such as Thurauen and the Irchel forest. These provide ideal conditions for exciting excursions in any season!

Our goal is to bring people closer to the natural treasures at their doorsteps and to sensitise them to environmental issues. Our excursions provide participants including school classes, families and clubs with a new perspective on familiar surroundings. We also highlight global interrelationships and suggest steps that everyone can take to make a difference.

The range of offerings includes courses, excursions and reports on selected agricultural, forestry and water topics. Students can make their own cheese, feel their way through the Irchelwald, or follow water from its source until the Rhine. Families and adults enjoy a programme that includes mushroom courses, beaver watching and night walks. All the activities emphasise hands-on-learning and a first-hand experience of nature. The excursions are led by certified experts and are tailored to the wishes and requirements of participants.

In addition to the nature along the Rhine and in Thur and Irchel, the UBZ also has access to the Bungerthof orchard and the Bird of Prey Sanctuary Berg am Irchel. These partnerships allow us to cover a broad range of agricultural topics, as well as provide visitors with unforgettable encounters with birds of prey.
