Explore the Marine Forests
On south Sulawesi you plunge into a world of mangroves and corals. Free your soul and watch the kingfisher fish!
The village of Puntondo lies at the farthest end of South Sulawesi,
directly on the sea and has about 650 inhabitants. Houses are built
traditionally on stilts – a strikingly simple but stable construction
method to protect against high tides. The locals live mainly from
fishing and the cultivation of algae.
Puntondo is situated on a particularly flat section of coast that is home to unique flora and fauna. Mangroves and a rich fish and marine world are part of this habitat. The PPLH provides an ideal starting point from which to explore the surroundings. The 3-hectare site lies directly on the beach with all buildings in traditional style. From the terrace of the restaurant one's view sweeps far across the open sea.
Getting there:
Public buses service only part of the road to Puntondo. You can book the small PPLH Puntondo bus in Makassar. The 2-hour drive will give you a first impression of South Sulawesi.

PPLH Puntondo offers a few traditional bungalows with a good standard. The restaurant spoils guests with a local and fresh menu. If you like fish, you are in the right place!
