The Foundation for a Sustainable Ecosystem YEL is our local partner on Sumatra. About 100 people are working at YEL headquarters in Medan and on the various project sites. They are responsible for the coordination and implementation of the Sumatran Orangutan Programme and the environmental education programmes.

Sofyan Tan, originally physician, is an active politician and environmentalist with a huge network. Besides running a school for all ethnic groups in Medan, he has been chairman of the YEL foundation since 2002.

Desanti Lavita Lubis Operational Manager
Santi started to work for YEL in 2006 as Operational Manager of the SOCP. In January 2008, she additionally took over the post of Office Manager and is since responsible for the YEL administration as well.

Suherry Aprianto Director Education Division
Engineer Suherry Aprianto has been working for YEL since its foundation in 1999. He started with networking for the SOCP, then took over the managment of the PPLH Bohorok and is now Director of the Education Division.

Diana Kosmanto Dir. Livelihood & Ecotourism
Controlling and administration of ecotourism projects are daily business of Diana Kosmanto. Besides the managment of this rather new branch of YEL, she is working on her master in organisational psychology.
